US Springfield Percussion Musket

40 in. octagonal to round barrel, lock plate marked"1863" behind hammer and an eagle and shield motif/U. S. Springfield in front of hammer, barrel at breech is stamped "VP?", possibly all original, first and second barrel bands marked with "U"

Provenance:From the Estate of Judge David Creekmore, Knoxville, Tennessee

Condition:

stock cleaned, pitting to barrel, crack to in wood at wrist at breech tang repaired with nails, initials carved into left side of butt stock, noticeable scuffing, marring and dings to wood, repair to stock between first and second barrel bands, no ramrod, one sling swivel, butt tang marked "US"
