American, 1859, brass, fabric and braided brass, federal eagle button, round insignia of a "2", one marked left, one marked right, original black tin case reads, "To adjust the epaulets in the air tight case, raise the wire frame put one to the right then replace the frame for the reception of the other, no pad or paper required, 1859", epaulets 7-1/2 in., case 6 x 9 x 6-1/4 in.
