Large Burlon Craig Stoneware Churn

(Vale, North Carolina, 1914-2002) dark green glassy glaze, green and rutile melt runs from four applied lug handles, upturned rim, glazed stoneware lid, stamped 5 above and below handle at shoulder, inscribed "B.B. Craig Henry NC" on base, 18-3/4 in.

Note: Former Collection of Dr. Leonidas Betts, in Burlon Craig: An Open Window into the Past exhibition at Foundations Gallery, Visual Arts Center, North Carolina State University, April 15 1994 - July 8 1994.
