42 in. round barrel, lock plate marked "NEW/HAVEN/1855" behind flint and "U.S./crossed arrow and branch/E. Whitney", firing mechanism appears to work, checkering at rear barrel band, cartouche on left flat, brass butt cap, tang marked "A/5"
